Setting up artwork for BlingFoil.

BlingFoil is printed on 310gsm card stock that already has the silver surface attached. Printing CMYK on top of this stock opens up the possibility of getting literally millions of different foil colours in one pass. To mask out the
silver foil, we apply a white opaque coating that reacts like a normal stock giving us the ability to get solid colours along with the foils. This will give you a finished result that looks just like a standard foiled card at a fraction of the cost.

The front of the card is gloss laminated (celloglazed) and the BlingFoil is on the front side only.

Step 1

Create your business card as you would normally for a standard business card print. Ensure the card is 86mm x 54mm with 3mm bleed on all four sides. The first page will always be considered as the front of the card

In this example we want the image of the diamond to have a metallic look utilising the CMYK colours to create added realism and the 'D' and 'Diamonds are Forever' are silver foil.

Step 2

Create a second page (Back of the business card) This will be printed at no
additional charge, but will not be laminated.

Step 3

Create your BlingFoil. You must determine which section of the card you want metallic and what sections are to be solid CMYK, in this example, the blue area will be printed in white opaque and the silver foil will show through the knocked out areas on the artwork (right).

Convert these images to PMS 072, it MUST line up with the areas on the front of the card (see Step 1) Although this must be sent through as PMS 072, we will print in opaque white, so ensure you retain the spot colour when converting to PDF. Trim line will be the guide for us line up page 1 & 3, so please ensure this is correct.

Important

The artwork MUST be uploaded as a High resolution 'mult-page' PDF in CMYK and Spot. Do not convert the artwork to CMYK only, as your order will be canceled and require you to re-upload the order. A cancellation fee will apply.
